Shane Ragland is a former student at the University of Kentucky. He sniped and killed footballer Trent DiGiuro who was also a student at the University.
Almost six years after the death of DiGiuro, an unnamed tipper led the police to Ragland. Later the tipper was revealed to be Ragland’s girlfriend.
On July 14, 2000, he was arrested in Frankfort, Kentucky. Following that, he was charged with 1st-degree murder. The shooter was soon released on a $1 million bail paid by his father, Jerry Ragland, a well-known businessman in Frankfort. His trial started on March 11, 2002, in Fayette County.
Ragland was convicted and punished for 30 years of prison time on March 28, 2002. Several years later, he filed multiple appeals, and the court overturned his conviction. He pleaded guilty to 2nd-degree murder and ended up serving only five years in jail.
Now he is back in court for family violence against his wife and children. And apparently, it is not the first time he was brought back to court for domestic violence issues.

Victim Trent DiGiuro: Death Cause And Obituary
Trent DiGiuro was a senior football player at the University of Kentucky. He was killed at his 21st birthday party while in an off-campus house.
The rising player was gunned down while he was on the porch of the house by Shane Ragland. He was announced dead due to getting shot at 3 a.m.
Ragland murdered Digiuro because he was blocklisted from the college fraternity group. The footballer had just earned a starting position for the Kentucky Wildcats before his death.

Shane Ragland Family And Girlfriend Name Explored
Ragland’s former girlfriend’s identity is not known to the public. However, we know that she was the one to tip the police regarding DiGiuro’s murder anonymously.
She was at a local bar with her ex-boyfriend Ragland when he confessed to her about the murder. The young woman was in disbelief and did not think much about it.
Five years after the murder, she saw an article in a newspaper where DiGiuro’s death was announced. Following that, she went to her attorney friend in Lexington to seek advice.
She was hesitant to go public at first but later agreed to help the police with the investigation. With the help of undercover cops and the FBI, Regalnad was caught in a wired inquiry.
